the space between us, day 2
i got a call from my grand rapids friend curtis frillman this morning. he exhibited in the artist space at art chicago this past weekend and then went to huntley to visit his folks. since he was out this way he wanted to come and check out my show. we had a lovely conversation. what a wonderful gesture to have interest in me and my work and want to come and support it.
kim came in and documented my show while curtis was here. she's such a good photographer and i'm excited to see the images. so that began my day of 'community'. the luncheon with informal discussion on community drew in about 10 people. spinach salad and pizza was served and many students filtered through.
dirty curty and katie came in to preview my work for an art trade, nina rizzo's class came in to look around, and i also set up some talks with classes for tomorrow.
i have my crits with my committee members tomorrow and look forward to their comments.
there has been such a good response and i've been talking with a lot of undergrads i've never seen before encouraging them to use the space and interact more with other students around them. i've decided to ichat the reception on thurs. so those who can't be there can IM me and view the space and interactions. my screen name is womanhouse
and the reception will be from 4:30-6:30, so add me to your buddy list
here's a link to some shots of the space void of people, wonderfully documented by my good friend kim. i haven't cleaned up the images, so look past some of the spots.
hopefully, i'll have some social shots up soon, but i keep forgetting to take photos because i've been too busy socializing! :-)

michele! i just peeked at your images from the show. very impressed! it looks great. i love the familiarity and comfort of the furniture, and the straight lines of solid (solid!) work on the walls. magnificent!
