the ornaments were packed with care

Here are a couple more ornaments i purchased at The Iron Grate in Fenton, MI. I am normally a modern gal through and through, but this shop had clean look with a nice mix of new and vintage pieces.

collaboration with toni bal

if you've been following along, you'll know i created a piece of art for UICA's Women in the Arts Luncheon back in November. An earlier collaborative piece was created with local writer/poet Toni Bal and has now been actualized.

ringing in the new year by throwing out the tree

i am afraid to see the mess left behind once we begin our tree dismantling. the faint ping, ping, pinging of needles falling will soon become a whoosh once the lights get pulled off. here are a few of my  favorite ornaments

the holidays have been a whirlwind, i guess that's nothing new. i braved a trip to chicago to see my family and the normal 3.5 hour trip turned into 6.5 hours.

blizzards and bunnies

I am not a snow bunny. I have lived in Michigan now since 1995 and never really seem to acclimate to winter. Today marks our first big snow and I was less than thrilled.

Is my car there?

Actual snow, not a drift

The less than thrilled shoveler...and yes I am holding a broom. try one, it works

red crow anthologies

I recently sent some work to Ingrid Nelson at the Red Crow Anthologies in Grass Valley, Ca. This Thursday marks the gallery's first opening, Winter Landscape. I will be showing a couple new works on paper/panel and some framed mylar drawings in the gallery along with mimi drawings in the retail space.

Ingrid is a photographer with an amazing eye, I just love her portraits. If I were within driving range I'd be hounding her for a barter. The gallery space used to be her photography studio and has now shifted to showcasing a select number of artist's work. The dark wood floors, white walls, and stark furnishings make for a clean modern shop. I can't wait to see some images of the reception and how my work looks in the space.

catching up

Here are some photos from back in Aug-Sept. wow! It doesn't seem that long ago. The show Mountain: A Force of Faketure   was exhibited at the Beverly Arts Center in Chicago . Curated by Gabriel Akagawaand Audrey Pieper , the exhibition showcased artists all navigating ambiguous territory between articifice and nature. My friend Jess Witte and I collaborated on a piece during Gabe's show at the NIU Art Museum and we were asked to participate in this show as well.
